This chapter explains the ES or AS licenses that you install for application testing.
Micro Focus development systems, such as Net Express, are shipped with five AS licenses and one ES license. These are known as developer licenses.
Developer licenses enable you, the developer, to test applications on a separate machine from your development system. The licenses are restricted to developing and testing an application. You must not deploy them to run live applications.
These complimentary developer licenses are limited to 30 days. However, you are free to reinstall them for another 30 days, as many times as you like.
You can run AppTrack in the same way as non-developers, and use any of the facilities it provides.
For details of shipping an application with Application Server, see the topic Overview - Shipping Applications in the Help.
Before installing developer licenses, you need to install Application Server on a separate machine from the machine where Net Express is installed. You can arrange for Application Server to be installed as part of your installing your application.
You install developer licenses in the same way as any other ES or AS licenses, as described in the section Installing and Uninstalling Licenses in the chapter Installing and Administering Licenses.
If you test an application and get a message telling you that there are no ES or AS licenses available, this might be because the license database does not contain the five complimentary license units.
You can check that these ES or AS developer licenses exist by using License List in AppTrack. There should be an entry marked ***Developer Usage for the installed development system.
